Restylane

Restylane is a cosmetic filler that is injected into the skin to plump up wrinkles and increase volume. Restylane is commonly used to improve lines around the mouth, frown lines between the eyebrows, as well as to make the lips fuller. Restylane injections give natural volume under the wrinkle, which is lifted up and smoothed out. The results are immediate and last up to six months.

Restylane is injected through a fine needle, with local anesthesia used to make the treatment more comfortable. Treatment takes just a few minutes. Restylane gradually wears off and re-treatment is typically needed in 6 months.

Restylane is made of hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in our soft tissues. Because it is made from non-animal sources, there is no chance of transmitting diseases from animals or eliciting allergic reactions in patients who are sensitive to common foods, such as beef, chicken and eggs. Additionally, no prior allergy testing is needed for Restylane, unlike bovine collagen injections.
