Liposuction

What is liposuction?

Liposuction is a plastic surgery procedure that is used to remove excess fat in the body. It can be performed on almost any part of the body: the abdomen, hips, buttocks, arms, cheeks, etc.

Liposuction is one of the most popular plastic surgeries in the world today. Even on a thin body, insidious fat “traps” appear, from which neither athletic training nor a grueling diet can help to get rid of.

Until recently, this procedure was considered the prerogative of women, but now more and more men pay attention to this method of fighting fatty deposits. This isn’t surprising, because the effect of the surgery is simply stunning. Fat folds “go away”, the body looks slender, and you feel a burst of energy and self-confidence.

Types of liposuction

Classic liposuction also called tumescent or vacuum liposuction. Saline, lidocaine, and sodium bicarbonate are injected under the skin in the treatment area. In this way, the tissues are moistened and anesthetized before the fat is pumped out. As a result, there are no large bruises or hematomas.

Ultrasonic. This procedure allows to get rid of excess weight by destroying fat cells of the internal structure under the action of ultrasound.

Vibratory. This is classic liposuction using reciprocating movements of the cannula. This method allows removing more excess fat at one time.

The duration of the procedure depends on the number of areas to be treated, but on average takes from 1 to 4.5-5 hours.

Who is in need of liposuction?

Liposuction will be useful and effective in the following cases:

  • You have noticeable localized excess fat;
  • You cannot get rid of it with standard methods: diet, physical activity;
  • There are no chronic or acute diseases or abnormalities, your health is normal.

However, it’s important to remember that liposuction isn’t a method to fight obesity. The purpose of liposuction is to correct the contours of the body by removing “unwanted” fat excess from certain problem areas.

You should always keep in mind that proper nutrition and exercise are key components of maintaining a healthy weight and keeping the results of a procedure for a long time.

Rehabilitation

Immediately after the surgery, a patient puts on special compression garments, which must be worn for 4-6 weeks. The day after the operation, a bandage is applied and a patient is released to go home, returning to normal life within 24 hours after the procedure.

You should be prepared for the postoperative period to be accompanied by bruising or hematomas and edema (resulting in a temporary obstructive lymph outflow), which will diminish and disappear within 2 to 2.5 weeks.

Results

With liposuction, you can achieve results that are almost unattainable in other ways. Hateful excess fat will be easily removed, and the body will gain a clear contour and slimness.

In addition, by gaining a more attractive, beautiful figure, people after liposuction are highly motivated to keep the results.

If a procedure is carried out in accordance with the standards of modern plastic surgery, others will never be able to tell if the treatment was ever received, and its results will remain until old age.
